Churros & hot chocolate dipping sauce

Because if you can't eat churros with hot chocolate dipping sauce when you have an intense craving on a Thursday night then when can you?

Crispy churros with a soft centre, covered in cinnamon-sugar and dunked in chocolate sauce. Not exactly diet friendly but after the week I've had I just don't care. So with that said, let's get started:

You will need:
1 1/2 mugs of sieved plain flour
1/2 mug of butter
1 mug of hot water
Milk to loosen (a couple of splashes)
Cinnamon - absolutely loads
Sugar - about a mug's worth (I used stevia)
1 bar of dark chocolate
1/2 pot of single cream

That's it. Don't be put off making them because they are so easy. They would be great to make for a group but I managed to eat the lot of them alone because I'm not a quitter haha. These don't keep well so you need to make them just before you serve them.

Firstly, boil the water in a saucepan and melt the butter in it. Then put in 1 mug of sieved flour and mix until you get a smooth paste.

It should clump together as above ^^, if it's too loose add the remaining 1/2 mug of flour slowly until it thickens up or if it's too thick add some milk. You want the mix to collect together but not be too stiff or else you will give your icing bag a bit of a problem later on 😂:

Haha! So learn from my mistake and don't try to muscle the mixture through the piping bag thinking it will help your biceps; it wont end well!

When you're happy your mix is pliable put it in a icing bag, heat butter/oil in a pan ready for frying and pipe the churros out into 5-6cm fingers. I just used a little butter because I didn't have any place to deep fry the churros and I'm also super scared of setting my house on fire. While the churros cook mix together the sugar and cinnamon in a bowl.

Once crispy on both sides immediately take the churros out using tongs and drop them in your cinnamon-sugar mix.

When they are done it's time to make the chocolate dipping sauce.
Break the chocolate into cubes and melt it with the single cream and that's it! So simple.

Then dunk and enjoy,
