Switzerland-France boat trip

One thing that was recommended to us by our AirBnB hosts was a boat-trip over Lake Geneva to Yvoire, France. We headed over in the morning after stopping for coffees at the harbour.

It cost about 30 pounds for the ticket (each) but is worth it because a) Everything in Switzerland is expensive so that's just the norm there and b) The boat ride was so scenic so we felt it was worth it just to see more of Lake Geneva and the Switzerland/France coastline. Initially it was a little overcast but on the journey over it lifted and became such a beautiful day.

Yvoire was a medieval town and it's been kept in that ye-olde-world-y style so it's quite fun to explore. We thought it looked really beautiful from the harbour.

The streets were kept 'in theme' and we really enjoyed walking around having a look at them - it was pretty quaint. They even had a themed market which I thought was a good effort; There were donkeys there and people making apple juice using the 'medieval method' which looked like massively difficult work, especially in the sun. Fingers crossed I never have to do it.

There were a couple of little stalls but I don't think you could enjoy it for more than an hour or so.

It's fun but small so after wandering about we just sat on the harbour and soaked up the sun for a little while. I spend a lot of time travelling for work so I really enjoyed having some chill time. If you prefer to be a bit more active on your holidays then I would travel from here to somewhere else in France.

Check out how clear the water is! Evian is bottled on the other side of the lake and I can see why.

Then it was time to catch to boat back to Switzerland.

See you soon,
